Welcome to our AWANA program! I can assure you that your child will benefit from this well organized, Bible based and Christ centered program, with its long and proven track record for keeping kids excited as they learn Christian values and Bible truths.
We here at Sunnyside Baptist are not ashamed to teach children the truths of the Scriptures and I encourage you to help your child towards greater achievement in AWANA.
We value your involvement in your child's progress and are available to answer any questions you may have. Also, please feel free to visit your child's club at any time.

Sunnyside Baptist is not currently running the Awana junior high or high school programs, but offers 7th – 12th grade young people the opportunity to attend our Youth Group on Sunday nights from 6:300 pm – 8:00 pm. For information, contact Steve Biggs.

to escort children into the church building before club and collect them from the sanctuary at the end of club. Children will not be permitted to wait in the parking lot. PLEASE DO NOT DROP CHILDREN OFF BEFORE 6:00

What to Expect Each Night
Game Time The Game Time is full of excitement and fun as the clubbers compete on the specially Handbook Time T&T clubbers have the opportunity to recite verses they
have studied at home, or receive personal assistance in studying their AWANA handbook at their own pace. Sparks will work on their sections as a group, and all will learn the same section. If a Spark misses a
section they can make it up on their own, or just skip it and go on with the rest of the group.As clubbers progress through their handbooks they earn awards which are to be displayed on their uniform, as well as "shares" which can be used at
the AWANA store on
designed game circle. AWANA games are not only fun, but strive to teach sportsmanship and
teamwork. Leaders are assigned to each team to keep the competition friendly and the atmosphere controlled.

Council Time
During the Council Time, Bible truths are presented in story form. The focus is to communicate the Word As Council Time is usually the last period of the night, any earned
awards or announcement notices will be handed out at the end of the period
of God in a manner that each clubber can understand.
Club Membership
When a child comes to AWANA for the first time, parents are required to complete a Medical Release Form, which will provide emergency
information if it is needed. If this form is not completed, the child may not be eligible to participate in Game Time. Each age group has an Introduction Booklet or Page which is given free of charge to children when they
come to club for the first time. Once this has been completed, clubbers have earned the right to become a member. Club members are required to purchase a uniform and handbook, and to pay dues
to be able to continue in the club. Dues may be paid for by semester or full year, which offers a saving over the weekly rate. The AWANA Secretary keeps a limited supply of uniforms and books on hand and they may be
purchased at the beginning of the club night. Handbooks are available in the NKJV but you may request KJV, if desired, when the order is placed. Nightly awards are given free of charge as the appropriate sections are
passed in the handbooks, but replacements for lost awards may have a charge. Price List

AWANA Achievement Standards
1. Awards are presented only to clubbers who are wearing uniforms.
2. AWANA clubbers are encouraged to regularly attend club and Sunday School. To receive attendance
a) one unexcused absence from club per club quarter (7 or 8 club nights) b) two unexcused absences from Sunday School for each half club year. Club Attendance Awards are assessed 4 times per year: 3. Sections must be passed by clubbers in one session. A maximum of 2 helps per section is allowed.

Excused absences are allowed only for sickness, travel and required school events. Absences
must be verified by a parent. Attendance Awards are presented on the club night following.
Sunday School Attendance Awards are assessed twice per year:
Usually only 5 sections may be passed in one club meeting.

AWANA Behavior Standards
1. All clubbers are expected
to participate in the entire club program, including the opening singing time and the Game Time. 2. If clubbers arrive during the Flag Ceremony they should stand to the side and wait to be invited to join the group. 3. When any leader begins the AWANA "5-count", all clubbers are expected to be quiet and ready to listen for instruction. 4. There will be no rough play at any time including outside, before or after club. 5. Everyone should show respect for others. Coarse language will not be tolerated and is grounds for removal from club. 6. No clubber is permitted to leave the church grounds during club time without
permission from the Director or Commander. 7. Appropriate attire for all AWANA clubbers is long pants & athletic shoes. If the clubber has earned a uniform, it is required to be worn each club night. No halter
tops, bare stomachs, or spaghetti straps are permitted. 8. Our AWANA club follows a "3-count" discipline policy for not following club behavior standards:

3. Parents are called and clubber is suspended for the following week.
9. Care and respect should be shown for church property. 10. Running is allowed only on the Game Circle during certain games.
