APRIL, 1983
Rev. Norm Nicklas, USA Church Planting Director for ABWE, along with ABWE missionaries, Tom & Lela Wilhite and Sam & Darlene Farlow visited with Valley Baptist Church of Clovis.  The congregation voted to call both families to begin Sunnyside Baptist Church of Fresno.

JULY, 1983
The Wilhites moved to Fresno from Sharon, Pennsylvania

AUGUST, 1983
The Farlows moved from Grand Rapids, Michigan to Clovis.

SEPTEMBER, 1983
On Labor Day weekend, the two pastors began house to house surveys to gather information on families interested in short term Bible studies, and Christian films on the family and Bible Prophecy.

OCOTOBER, 1983
The first home Bible study was held at the Wilhites.

NOVEMBER, 1983
Wednesday evening Bible studies began on a permanent basis.  They were held at the Wilhites home until the new building was occupied.

JANUARY, 1984
Sunday evening services began at the Wilhites.

FEBRUARY, 1984
Sunday morning services began at the Wilhites with 29 people attending.

MARCH, 1984
Sunday morning services were moved to Easterby Elementary School

AUGUST, 1984
Sunday evening services were moved to Easterby Elementary School

FEBRUARY, 1985
First anniversay of Sunday morning services with 83 people in attendance.

JUNE, 1985
The Sunnyside congregation occupies their newly finished church home.

SEPTEMBER 15, 1985
Dedication service with Dr. Wendell Kempton, President of ABWE, as guest speaker.  125 people were in attendance.

FEBRUARY, 1987
The Farlows leave Sunnyside Baptist to continue church planting.  George Moore accepted the position of "Chaplain" and became a part time assistant in the ministry.

MARCH, 1988
Lester and Alpha Hotchkiss, who had already done so much financially to help with the start of the church, deeded the property at 6309 E. Kings Canyon Road to Sunnyside Baptist Church, which became the parsonage.

MAY, 1988
Sunnyside Baptist Church celebrated their self-support status with Norm Nicklas as the special guest.  Sunnyside was the first church to oversee as Director of ABWE.

JUNE, 1988
The self-support status became official as the Wilhites terminated their relationship with ABWE to remain at Sunnyside Baptist Church as pastor and family.

JUNE, 1992
Chairman of the Deacon Board, Larry Garner, was brought on staff as full-time Associate Pastor with special responsibility to the ministries of Outreach and Youth.
